Fernihurst Honoured with National Award

The team at a Sanctuary Care home in Exmouth are beaming with pride after winning a prestigious national Chief Nurse Adult Social Care Team Award.

The accolade, which recognises the exceptional approach to care at Fernihurst Nursing Home, was presented to the not-for-profit home recently, with Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care, Deborah Sturdy, congratulating the team during the celebratory event via a video call.

The award reflects the innovation, dedication and consistently high standards of the staff when it comes to delivering truly person-centred care.

Well known locally as a leading home for people living with dementia, Fernihurst has built a strong reputation in Exmouth for its compassionate and highly skilled team. The home recently achieved Gold Standards Framework accreditation in end-of-life care, reflecting its commitment to providing dignified, high-quality support at every stage of life.

Emily O’Hara, Sanctuary Care’s Director of Quality and Chief Nurse, said: “We are so proud of Fernihurst for achieving such recognition from the Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care, a fantastic accolade which reflects the team’s dedication, commitment and hard work.

“This is a fantastic achievement which motivates and inspires us all to keep striving for excellence in care delivery, recognising the important contribution of every single member of staff when it comes to enriching the lives of our residents.”

The Fernihurst team’s clinical standards have also received high praise by external partners, with pharmacy audits commending its medication management, and social workers recognising the professionalism and reassurance offered to families placing loved ones in the Sanctuary Care home.
