All Looking Lovely in Care Home’s New Garden

Residents Pam Clark and her husband Trevor had the honour of cutting the ribbon as the revamped garden at Colten Care’s Brook View nursing and residential care home in West Moors was officially opened.

A celebratory event was staged on a beautiful summer’s day with residents sipping bubbly, enjoying strawberries and cream and listening to music.

Brook View Home Manager Lauren Steele said: “It is lovely to see our new garden in use and being enjoyed by our residents and families throughout the summer.

“The ribbon was cut and the garden was officially opened by our resident Pam alongside her husband Trevor. A wonderful time was had by all who attended the event.”

Resident Iona Midlane said: “What a lovely afternoon it was, I really had a great time in the new garden.”

Andy Richards, Colten Care’s Landscape and Estates Manager, said: “The garden at Brook View was looking dated and was a very square and angular.

“We wanted to soften the look and feel and create gentle curves which from above resemble the petals on a flower.

“A key feature was also an invitation to go on a journey and a garden to explore. The paths meander through the space.

“It’s the aim of the horticulture team to create beautiful outdoor rooms that allow our residents and visitors a place to reconnect with nature and a space to ‘just be’.

“Core principles run through all our gardens; calm open spaces, circular walking routes, sensory experiences and planting that encourages biodiversity.”
