Farewell To Remember: Mayor And Brass Band Honour Hospice Partnership

Kings Lodge Care Home, Camberley, waved an emotional goodbye to the Phyllis Tuckwell In-Patient Unit which has been based there since 2023 with the fanfare of a brass band and support of all its staff, residents, management, and an appearance from the mayor.

The Phyllis Tuckwell hospice charity provides expert end-of-life care, support and understanding to patients and families across West Surrey and North East Hampshire. They moved into Aura Care Living’s modern, award-winning care home, situated on Camberley’s Kings Ride, while work began on their new purpose-built premises in Farnham. It will consist of 18 en-suite rooms, better outpatient facilities, and will act as a hub for the wide range of services which the charity provides across the community.

At the Clapping Out Ceremony, on Monday 8 June, Sarah Church, CEO of the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care praised Kings Lodge care home for “the atmosphere it had created,” and how “welcome Phyllis Tuckwell staff, residents and families of, have been made to feel during the three-year stay.

“We are truly grateful to Kings Lodge for making it possible for us to continue running our In-Patient Unit over the past few years. We have supported over 650 patients and their families over this time, providing them with end-of-life care, support and dignity.”

Linda Lloyd is the director of Aura Care Living and Kings Lodge added: “Thank you Cllr and Mayor Cliff Betton for coming and marking the occasion, the Salvation Army brass band were amazing, I cannot believe it has been three years and we wish Phyllis Tuckwell all the best at their new home, I cannot wait to go and see it, not it is complete.”
