Coxwell Hall’s Zippy Magana Wins National Dementia Registered Manager Award

Zippy Magana, care home manager at Coxwell Hall has won the Dementia Registered Manager Award at the national Dementia Care Awards 2026.

The award recognises managers who are making a meaningful difference to the lives of people living with dementia. Judges looked for exceptional leadership, staff development, innovation and improvements that create a lasting impact.

Zippy has played a key role in creating an environment at Oxfordshire-based Coxwell Hall, where residents living with dementia receive compassionate, personalised support that respects their individuality, life history and needs.

A key part of Coxwell Hall’s success has been its commitment to industry-leading dementia care practices, including specialist training delivered by Professor David Sheard, an internationally recognised expert in dementia care. David Sheard founded Dementia Care Matters and has since become Professor at York St John University.

This pioneering approach places emotional intelligence, connection and understanding at the centre of dementia care. The philosophy focuses on recognising the emotional needs of people living with dementia and ensuring care is delivered in a way that preserves dignity, confidence and wellbeing.
