Bramwell Care Home Resident, Kathleen Kerridge, Celebrates Milestone 104th Birthday!

Bramwell Care Home in Nottingham celebrated resident, Kathleen Kerridge’s, 104th birthday last week with a special visit from long-distance family members.

The staff and residents celebrated her birthday with decorations and a cake. She was also visited by various members of her family, including 2-year-old Louison from Marseille who she hadn’t met before.

Kathleen was born on the 9th January 1920 in Brixton, London. She was the 4th of 5 children.

Her first job was working for the Medical Research Council at Kings College Hospital where she earned £1 10 shillings per week. When war broke out, she provided support in setting up facilities for war casualties. In 1942, she joined the ATS where she was involved in the testing of ammunition and weapons at Shoeburyness.

In 1950 Kathleen married Denis and went on to have 3 children. They lived in Bushey Heath in Hertfordshire for many years before retiring to Parkstone in Dorset.

Kathleen has 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Home Manager for Bramwell care home, Mable Joloza said: “It was such a lovely day celebrating Kathleen’s 104th birthday. The team went above and beyond to make her day special and she was the queen of the day. All her family visited her to make it extra special”.
