‘Strength And Resilience Party’ Held At Mill Lane Nursing Home

The team at Mill Lane Nursing Home in Felixstowe has held a garden party for its residents to celebrate the ‘strength and resilience’ that everyone has shown throughout the pandemic.

The manager, Hanro Smith, arranged for a 1940s and 1950s-inspired singer, Sarah Mai, to perform in the gardens of the home, while residents enjoyed a barbecue with burgers, hot dogs and chips with a few glasses of prosecco.

Hanro Smith said, “The residents have been so resilient; I think they come from a generation that pulls together, keeps smiling and carries on when times are hard, and that’s what they have done through this pandemic. We therefore wanted to have a celebration to recognise how incredibly well they have come through this and now, it’s feeling like the ‘new normal’.

“We have started socially-distanced visits with relatives in the gardens, and our whole-home testing has come back negative and so a garden party felt the right thing to do. Everyone danced, sang and a lovely time was had by all.”
