12 care home workers, residents and relatives have been recognized for their outstanding contribution during the past year at the annual Shaw Star Awards 2022.

Jacqueline Ryan won the award for Outstanding Management Contribution.

The 13th Shaw healthcare national awards ceremony took place at The Tortworth Court Hotel in Gloucestershire on Thursday 24 November and was hosted by Paul Sinha, best known for his regular appearances on ITV’s ‘The Chase’.

The night saw seven people win individual awards and five be recognized for making a significant difference to people who either use, work or are affiliated to a care home.

The seven award winners were Jonathan Pearce from Rotherlea for the ‘Care and Compassion’ award, Jacqueline Ryan from Woodhouse for ‘Outstanding Management’, Becky Brooks from Figbury Lodge for ‘Shining Star’, Lisa Carne from Ledbury Nursing Home for ‘Culinary Star’ and Hannah Salter for ‘Service Support’, Becky Lloyd from Trenewydd for ‘Wellness, Happiness, Kindness’ and the team at Thorndale care home in Kettering for the ‘Carehome.co.uk’ award.

Recognized for their ongoing support were residents Richard Shepherd and Janet Barber from The Martlets and friends of Deerswood Lodge, Tina and Brian Baker.

Russell Brown, CEO of Shaw healthcare, said: “The Shaw Star Awards are always the highlight of our calendar and this year’s event was no exception. The quality of submissions was fantastic and it was – as always – hard to pick a winner from the extremely talented pool of finalists.

“As an employee-owned company it is vital that we celebrate the Shaw family, so I want to say a huge congratulations to all the winners – all of whom embody Shaw’s ethos of going above and beyond to provide the best possible care to our residents.”
