National Award Win for Amore Complex Care’s Service Improvement Team

Amore Complex Care is celebrating national success after its Service Improvement Team was named winner of the Positive Behaviour Support Award at the National Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards.

The award recognises excellence in delivering evidence-based, person-centred Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) that improves the lives of people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.

The winning submission showcased how Amore Complex Care’s Service Improvement Team works alongside individuals, families, support teams and professionals to understand behaviour as communication, promote independence and create meaningful opportunities for the people they support.

Through its Positive Behaviour Support approach, Amore Complex Care has supported people to become more independent, reconnect with family members, access education and community activities, improve their health and wellbeing, and achieve goals that may once have seemed out of reach.

The award-winning work has enabled people to strengthen relationships, increase participation in their communities, develop daily living skills and enjoy a greater quality of life through tailored, evidence-based support.

Behind these life-changing outcomes are significant reductions in behaviours of concern, incidents and restrictive practices, demonstrating the effectiveness of the team’s person-centred approach.

In recognising the team as the national winner, the judging panel praised Amore Complex Care’s commitment to quality, innovation and continuous improvement, describing the Service Improvement Team as:

“An outstanding PBS team that is fully committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and support. Their passion for excellence is evident in everything they do, from their proactive approach to positive behaviour support to their dedication to achieving the best possible outcomes for the people they support.

The team consistently reflects on practice, embraces learning opportunities, and seeks innovative ways to enhance the quality of care. They demonstrate strong leadership, collaboration, and professionalism, creating a culture of continuous improvement.”

Ian McDougall, Group Managing Director of Amore Group, said:

“We’re incredibly proud of our Service Improvement Team and the positive difference they make every day. This national award is recognition of their dedication, expertise and commitment to delivering truly person-centred support.

Positive Behaviour Support is about helping people live safer, more independent and more fulfilling lives. While the outcomes we have achieved are significant, what matters most is the impact those outcomes have on the people we support and their opportunities to achieve their goals.”

Jasmine Wood, PBS Lead at Amore Complex Care, said:

“At the heart of Positive Behaviour Support is understanding what a person is communicating and working alongside them to achieve the life they want to live.

We are proud of the measurable outcomes we have achieved, but the real success is seeing people become more independent, strengthen relationships, access their communities and enjoy new opportunities. This award reflects the dedication of our support teams and the individuals and families we work with every day.”

The team’s work has delivered measurable outcomes, including a 96% reduction in physical aggression, an 89% reduction in incidents and the elimination of PRN chemical restraint for more than 12 months. These outcomes sit alongside improvements in independence, health, wellbeing and community participation.

As winners of the National Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards, members of Amore Complex Care’s Service Improvement Team have also been invited to attend an Afternoon Tea Reception at the House of Lords, where national award winners from across the sector will be recognised for their contribution to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities and autism.
