Wain House Care Home Secures Prestigious Town Pride Award

Avante Care & Support has announced that its newest facility, Wain House Care Home, has been officially honoured with a Town Pride Award Commendation.

The award was presented by the Margate Civic Society during a ceremony held on Thursday, 21 May, at Holy Trinity Margate Hall and was accepted by Director of Property and Development, Chris Francis, and Property Project Lead, Julian Oliver.

The Town Pride Awards are an annual initiative by the Society, a registered charity founded in 1968, recognising high standards of architecture and the preservation of historical interest within Margate and its surrounding areas.

The completion of Wain House, located at 30 Linksfield Road, marks a significant milestone for Avante Care & Support, representing the organisation’s first new-build care home in over 13 years. The luxury 70-bed facility provides residential, specialised dementia, nursing, and respite care within a high-specification environment designed to promote both physical and mental well-being.

Key features of the award-winning home include:

  • Locally inspired design — Sensory-rich interiors themed around iconic local landmarks such as the Turner Gallery and Hornby, helping residents feel connected to their community.
  • Wellness-focused amenities — Architect-designed gardens, an outdoor gym, and a unique geodome enhance residents’ physical and emotional well-being.
  • Resident independence — Clear wayfinding supports safe, independent navigation of communal spaces including a café, cinema, and hair salon.
  • Community integration — The café welcomes casual visitors and local partners, strengthening connections with the Westgate-on-Sea community.

Chris Francis commented, “Wain House isn’t just a win for the community, it’s a win for the environment too, with an EPC A (25) rating, a 10-year conservation plan for local wildlife displaced during construction and numerous ecology features within the landscape gardens. This ecological focus ensures that the site remains a sanctuary for biodiversity long after its completion in 2025.”
