Trio of Wins for Healthcare Homes at Suffolk Care Awards

Healthcare Homes’ Suffolk homes scooped three top awards at the Suffolk Association of Independent Care Providers’ Celebration Ball.
Congratulations go to Head Housekeeper from Foxgrove and Maynell House in Felixstowe Iwona Arbudzinska who won the award for Stepping up in the Face of Adversity.

The team at Uvedale Hall in Needham Market were highly commended for Stepping up in the Face of Adversity and Home Manager Naomi Bender from Handford House in Ipswich was highly commended for Going Above and Beyond in Keeping Spirits High.

Iwona has worked at Foxgrove and Maynell House for 14 years and her entry praised her for always being cheerful, singing and helping out in lots of little ways which mean a lot to the residents.

“Iwona always remembers the residents’ little ways, she will go out of her way to pick up a resident’s favourite magazine, flowers for a resident if they are down or just sitting and chatting with a cup of tea and biscuits.”

Iwona stood out to the judges as being a totally committed housekeeper and they stressed “that we should never underestimate the hardworking housekeeping teams that are the backbone of warm, safe and comfortable care homes”.

The awards’ judges said that the Uvedale Hall nomination highlights “many heartfelt examples of compassionate, person centred, end of life care, and how, as a team, the care professionals at Uvedale Hall, supported not only those at end of life, but also their families, with the utmost dignity and respect in the most difficult of circumstances”.

Naomi Bender has worked at Handford House in Ipswich – rated Good by CQC – for the last five years as Deputy Manager and has just been promoted to Home Manager, she takes being a role model to a whole new level.

The judges praised Naomi and all care home managers for being essential to the smooth running of the home. “Home managers are the cog in the wheel that keeps things going. They also need the skill to support, to encourage, to always be there and be committed to the residents and staff in a way that makes them feel cared for, safe and encourages imagination and development in the way everyone cares for the residents.”
