Tonbridge Residents Visit The Olde Sweet Shoppe

From Fry’s Turkish to Delight to Bassett’s Licorice Allsorts, there were plenty of nostalgic treats on offer to residents at Barnes Lodge Care Home today, when the sweet trolley did the rounds.

Reminiscence was in the air at the Tonbridge care home today, as residents were invited to roll up and get their sweet fix, in the form of some nostalgic Friday treats.

Activity staff visited each of the residents, ensuring no one was missed, offering them a taste of their youth in the form of Jelly Babies, minty Humbugs and classic Werther’s Originals.

The trolley prompted plenty of memory sharing from the residents about what used to be their favourites and what a treat it was to return from the local Newsagents with a stripy bag of sweet treats.

Nicky Pett, General Manager of Barnes Lodge commented: “We take the sweet trolley around the home once a month and the residents always really enjoy it.

“Nostalgia is an integral part of the activities for our residents here and the trolley always prompts a lot of conversation and memories for them. It’s great because even the residents who are bedbound or like to stay in their room can get involved.”
