Staines Care Home Raises £21,745 For Minibus

Moor House care home in Staines, run by charity Friends of the Elderly, has reached its fundraising target of £21,745 to buy a minibus to take residents and older members of the Staines community out on day trips.

The final push in fundraising was a charity dinner held at Bella Napoli at the end of October. The dinner, which was attended by 45 people including residents, relatives and members of the local community, was a great success. Guests enjoyed a three course meal, interesting conversation and a raffle.

Over the past year, the team at Moor House has been working hard to raise the money for this much needed minibus. There have been bake sales, fetes, Christmas parties and individual fundraising all working towards the target. Moor House resident, Frieda said: “We are looking forward to getting our minibus so that we can go out on lovely outings and join in with things in the local community.”

Lyn Spivack, Manager of Moor House, said: “It’s been a real team effort to raise this terrific amount for our new minibus. It really will make such a difference to our residents and we hope that the wider community will benefit from joining our trips too. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed and who has been involved in fundraising and who has come along to our events to support us. We have had some rather large individual donations, which we have been touched by and are extremely grateful for.”
