Parley Place Takes Part In Dementia Uk Walk 31 Miles Challenge

Staff and residents at Parley Place care home in West Parley are taking part in a sponsored walk throughout the month of May to raise money for Dementia UK.

Dementia UK are a specialist dementia charity based in the uk and offers support to the whole family, the provide life changing support to anyone affected by dementia.  Every 3 minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia – it’s one of the biggest health challenges of our time.  Families often feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to turn which is where Dementia UK comes in so they don’t feel alone.

Residents, their relatives and staff are all getting involved with the challenge to walk 31 miles in May, residents are taking part with walks round the garden and to the local park whilst staff taking on a massive 16 mile walk in 1 day and 8 miles on another as well as walks round the garden with the residents!

Gina Smith, General Manager of Parley Place Care Home, said:
“Taking part in this challenge is going to be a huge amount of fun and everyone at the home has got behind us. It’s for such an important cause. We are very glad to be able to do our bit to raise further awareness and money for the charity.”
