From Flamenco dancing to tasty paella, residents and staff from The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court residential care homes, in Bocking, enjoyed a spectacular Spanish fiesta held in the homes’ stunning 10 acre grounds.
The residents and their families, who attended on the 31 July, tucked into a delicious lunch of paella, tapas, a barbeque and refreshing sangria, whilst enjoying Spanish dancing and music.
Jo Crosby, Head of Activities at The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court, said: “It was such a wonderful day, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere and Spanish entertainment, with music from Mauricio and flamenco dancing from Juana Jimenez.”
Tommy Batchelor, son of residents Terry and Rebecca Batchelor, said: “I attended with my three daughters and it was a wonderful afternoon with a fantastic Spanish dancer and singer, plus plenty of lovely Spanish food and drinks to go around.
“It was another great treat for both residents and their families. A big thank you goes to all of the staff for their hard work and making everyone welcome.”
Dancer Juana Jimenez from M&JUANA2, said: “Performing at The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court was an absolute delight. The country setting was breathtaking. The staff and residents were friendly, helpful and nice to be with. I thoroughly enjoyed entertaining everybody”
Over the past few months the teams at The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court have had great successes. St Mary’s Court was praised in its latest CQC inspection with the home now rated as ‘good’ overall with a rating of ‘outstanding’ for leadership.
The teams at the homes also beat off fierce competition from across England to triumph in the category of Most Effective Approach to Leadership and Management, at the Skills for Care Accolades awards and also picked up The Care Home Nutrition and Hydration Award for the East of England Region at The Great British Care Awards.
