A Northampton home is doing its bit for the community by offering free breakfasts to the emergency services once a month.

MHA Rushden Park launched the ‘blue light’ breakfasts as a way of saying thank you to the emergency services in the area.

The home, which provides residential and nursing care for 65 residents offers fully cooked traditional breakfast along with tea and coffee.

The service started back in April as a weekly initiative on every Friday, but due to the lack of numbers it’s been running on every first Friday of the month.

Recipients have the option of a sit-down meal in the lounge or if they prefer they can takeaway

Bindu Krishnan, home manager said:
“The blue light breakfasts are our way of saying thank you to the emergency services in the area.

“The costs of the breakfast are covered within our budget, and I want to thank the catering team for coming up with the idea and supporting it.

“We have had the ambulance services, the police and the fire and rescue team.

“The breakfast is available from 8am to 10am every first Friday of the month, but if we do start to see an increase in numbers we are more than happy to revert back to doing it every Friday.

“The food has gone down well, we haven’t received any complaints regarding the quality or the food choices.

“It’s a great way of keeping your presence in the community and for our residents even though it’s very early, it offers the opportunity to forge new relations.”
