Southport Care Home Celebrates Blooming Success With Gardening Competition Win

A Southport care home is celebrating after residents and staff were crowned winners of a group-wide gardening competition following a summer of hard work.

Parklands, part of Sandstone Care Group, took the top spot in the annual Sandstone Gardening Competition, which saw homes from across the group showcase their gardens and the work residents and colleagues have put into creating welcoming outdoor spaces.
Led by Sarah Gashi and supported by the whole Parklands team, the garden has undergone a summer transformation, with residents playing an important role.

The competition was designed to celebrate not only the finished gardens, but also the teamwork, creativity and involvement of residents that went into developing them.
At Parklands, staff and residents worked together throughout the summer to transform the outdoor space, creating a garden that can be enjoyed by everyone.

Lucy Holl, managing director of Sandstone Care Group, said: “Congratulations to Sarah, the residents and the entire team at Parklands. The transformation they have achieved is fantastic and reflects an enormous amount of hard work throughout the summer.

“What particularly impressed us was how much of a team effort this has been. Residents have been involved throughout, working alongside staff and helping to shape a garden that they can enjoy and take real pride in.

“Our gardening competition is about much more than creating beautiful outdoor spaces. It encourages people to work together, spend time outdoors, share ideas and create something that has a lasting benefit for everyone living and working at our homes.

“There was some brilliant work taking place across Sandstone, so Parklands should be extremely proud to have been named this year’s winner.”
