New Hipperholme Care Home Reaches Topping-Out Milestone
The development of a new care home in Hipperholme, near Halifax, has reached a significant milestone, with a topping-out ceremony marking completion of the building’s structural framework.
The purpose-built home, located on the site of the former Crosslee factory off Halifax Road, welcomed project partners and civic representatives to celebrate progress on the scheme, including Councillor Steven Leigh MBE, Mayor of Calderdale.
The seventy-two-bed home is being delivered by Burghley Care, and is expected to open in the summer, the home will provide seventy-two en-suite bedrooms alongside welcoming communal areas, landscaped gardens and dedicated spaces for activities and relaxation. The design has been shaped to support independence, dignity and clinical best practice, while creating a comfortable and homely setting for residents.
Martin Hutson, CEO of Torsion Care, said: “Reaching topping out at Hipperholme is a fantastic milestone for everyone involved in the project. It reflects the collaboration between our development partners, funders and the future operator, all working together to deliver a high quality care environment for the local community.
“At Torsion Care we are focused on developing purpose built homes that support modern care standards while creating places that genuinely feel welcoming and comfortable for residents, families and care teams. Just as importantly, we want these homes to feel connected to the neighbourhoods they sit within, creating spaces that also serve and welcome the local community we’re very pleased to be joining.”
Chris Lane, co-founder of Burghley Care and Chairman of operating partner Park Lane Healthcare, said: “I’ve been running care homes for more than 20 years and throughout that time my focus has always been on high standards, team investment, and making sure the homes we operate feel warm and welcoming.
“We work closely with regulators and independent inspection bodies because accountability is important in maintaining high quality standards giving families reassurance. That same approach will underpin everything we do at Hipperholme.”
Councillor Steven Leigh MBE, Mayor of Calderdale, said: “This sort of accommodation is very necessary throughout the area but particularly in Hipperholme.
“It looks as though these are going to be really nice homes that people can live in, and be comfortable in.”
