Wild West Comes to Newcastle Care Home

Residents at a Newcastle care home saddled up for a taste of the Wild West when they enjoyed a special country and western themed day.

Kenton Manor Care Home, part of Solehawk, was transformed for the occasion, with residents and colleagues donning their best cowboy and cowgirl outfits for a day packed with entertainment.

The country and western theme continued throughout the day with music, games and plenty of friendly competition.

Residents tried their luck at a horse racing game, cheering on their chosen runners, while a soundtrack of country favourites helped create the atmosphere.

The event was organised as part of Kenton Manor’s programme of activities, which aims to provide residents with varied experiences and opportunities to socialise, have fun and try something a little different.

Kellie Brown, home manager at Kenton Manor, said: “It was a fantastic day and everyone really embraced the country and western theme.

“The residents and team looked brilliant dressed up as cowboys and cowgirls, and having the ‘horses’ here made the day even more special even if they weren’t real!

“There was lots of laughter, some very competitive horse racing and great music throughout the day. Events like this are all about creating memorable experiences for our residents and bringing everyone together, and this one certainly did that.”
