National Medals Of Merit Presented To Care Workers For Outstanding Work

National-MedalCare workers from the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) have received prestigious awards from the British branch of the world’s oldest order of chivalry – the Sovereign Order of Malta.

The Order of Malta’s St John’s Day Ceremony, which was held at Brompton Oratory in London on 24th June, was attended by hundreds of people including Knights and Dames of the Order, the Venerable Order of St. John and World Ambassadors.

During the event, employees received Silver and Bronze Medals of Merit for their continuous hard work, dedication and commitment to the care and livelihood of residents across Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Lincolnshire and Wiltshire.

This year’s recipients were:

  • Caroline Dunagan, OSJCT Assistant Operations Director for Lincolnshire – Silver Medal
  • Mark Wood, OSJCT Assistant Director of Housing & Support – Silver Medal
  • Alison Stenning, OSJCT’s Area Operations Manager for Wiltshire – Silver Medal
  • Mags Illingsworth, Home Manager at Southfield in Stroud – Silver Medal
  • Carol Hillier, Home Manager at Southfield House in Spalding – Silver Medal
  • Rossana Elena Hallett, Activities Coordinator from Brookside in Melksham – Bronze Medal
  • Marisa Richards, carer from Wyatt House in Stroud – Bronze Medal
  • Julia Wilson, chef from Isis House in Oxford – Bronze Medal

Kevin Hall, OSJCT Operations Director, said: “Each year, the Sovereign Order of Malta recognises some of our county’s finest care workers, and this year is no different. These eight people are some of the hardest working employees within the Trust and we couldn’t be prouder about having them as part of our team.

“Delivering the highest level of person-centred care is our utmost priority, and our employees earning such a prestigious national award is a testament to all of the passion and dedication our employees have to meeting the needs of each and every one of our residents.”

The British Association of The Order of Malta was founded in 1875. A worldwide organisation dating from the eleventh century, the Order of Malta has 12,500 members, with around 300 belonging to the British Association.

The Order of Malta is one of the sponsoring Orders of OSJCT (the other being the Venerable Order of St John), and it provides eight of the organisation’s Trustees. The Order’s mission is to help those in need, and OSJCT’s provision of care for older people forms part of this mission.
