Macclesfield Care Home Team Take On 31-Mile Challenge for Dementia UK
Staff at The Rowans care home in Macclesfield are taking on a 31-mile walking challenge throughout May to raise money and awareness for Dementia UK, with residents also getting involved and joining the walks.
The fundraising challenge is being spearheaded by administrator Leanne Senior, who said the team wanted to support the charity after seeing first-hand, every day, the impact dementia can have on people and their families.
Residents at the home have also been joining staff on walks throughout the month, with many enjoying the chance to get outdoors and spend time together.
Leanne said: “Working with older people in our small home has shown us so many different people and illnesses. We are using this challenge to raise awareness for a really difficult condition for the person, families and those who care for them.
“We will be walking with our residents as they LOVE going for an outdoor walk.”
The challenge has brought staff, residents and families together while helping to raise awareness of dementia and the support needed for those living with the condition.
