Great North West Care Awards

greatMore than a dozen members of staff from across Belong’s five community care villages have been shortlisted at the prestigious Great North West Care Awards, designed to recognise and celebrate people who provide excellent care to older people.

Belong Macclesfield has enjoyed a particularly strong showing in nominations, with finalists through in the following six categories:

  • The Experience Day team for the ‘Putting People First Award’
  • Chloe Wynne for the ‘Dementia Carer Award’
  • John Summerton for the ‘Good Nurse Award’
  • Kate Jauffur for the ‘Care Trainer Award’
  • Martin Thompson for ‘Newcomer of the Year’
  • Lewis Newstead for ‘Ancillary Worker of the Year’

Meanwhile, at Belong Atherton, Lead Nurse Nicola Johnstone has been shortlisted for the ‘End of Life’ award and Christine Thomas for the ‘Care Home Cook/ Chef’ award, while Belong Warrington’s Lisa McLaughlin has been shortlisted for the Activities Organiser Award.

Finally, Andrew Sheild, from Belong Wigan, has been shortlisted for the coveted ‘Home Care Worker Award’ and Belong Crewe’s Abigail Brooker for the fiercely contested Care Home Worker Award.

Phil Orton, Head of People at Belong, said: “All Belong staff members work tirelessly to ensure that the best care possible is provided to our customers and I am delighted that the hard work of so many members of our team has been recognised by being shortlisted for prestigious awards. I wish our finalists the very best of luck in the next round of this competition!”

The regional winners will be announced on Friday 11th November at a gala dinner at Manchester’s Mercure Hotel.
