Gracewell Of Sutton Coldfield Wins ‘Best Care Team’ At National Care Awards

The whole team at Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield were delighted to win ‘Best Care Team’ at the National Care Awards on Friday 29th November.

The team at Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield delivers an exceptional level of personalised care to ensure residents have the best quality of life possible. The home itself is fully equipped with a salon offering haircuts, manicures and pampering sessions so residents can always look and feel their best. The team have recently opened a ‘corner shop’ so residents can purchase an array of toiletries, confectionery, stationery, cards and gifts to maintain their independence. They also organise individual activities bespoke to residents, including having a local diving school come and visit a resident who was an avid diver in his youth so he could share stories. They have also worked with an external charity, Project Semaphore, who work to get naval veterans online to support with social isolation, this led to three residents being presented with iPads.

Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield work with a range of organisations to ensure all their residents can remain part of their local community. Last year, they partnered with Age Concern Birmingham on an anti-loneliness campaign and this year they supported Birmingham LGBT’s Aging with Pride initiative. The team have also introduced a Wednesday club that involves inviting the community in twice a month for musical entertainment and a complimentary buffet-style lunch. There is a focus on inclusivity with the home’s head chef having recently won an award for ‘most innovative dish,’ after devising a vegan chocolate pureed dish to showcase his ability to creatively cater for those living with dysphagia.

The National Care Award Judging Panel, said:

“Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield have built an incredibly passionate team that can be described as compassionate, generous and inclusive. They are dedicated to ‘paying it forward’ through their work in building relationships across their community in a short amount of time (having only opened in January 2017). The Judges felt that they have created a supportive and enabling culture through their heart and soul, and outstanding employee recognition programmes.”
