toppingoutTwo of the eight new Care UK homes due to open in the next 12 months reached important milestones in their construction calendars last week.

Local mayors helped Care UK and its developers to perform the traditional topping out ceremony at each of the two homes.

The Care UK team at Oakfield Croft in Sale were joined by Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Robert Chilton, alongside Graeme Bird from developer and construction partner Termrim Construction Ltd , to put the final tile on the roof of the new-build care home.

The two homes will create will provide homes for up to 119 residents and create almost 130 new permanent jobs once they are  fully open.

Claire Ellam, development project manager at Care UK, said: “As the latest additions to a growing portfolio of care homes, Oakfield Croft and Deewater Grange represent a major investment for Care UK. When complete, the purpose-built care homes will boost the provision of quality residential and nursing homes as well as creating jobs for the local community.”

Both homes are due to open later this year and their designs will enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives while also promoting independence. The homes will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities and each will include cinema, gardens, hairdressing salon and coffee shop.

Deewater Grange and Oakfield Croft will deliver a full range of residential and nursing care for older people, including short-term respite care and specialist care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

“Care home Open Day is an important date in the calendar and I think it is a great initiative to show people what we do here. We now have specialist dementia care and we want to educate people about this.”
