Darlington Careline Team Leader Raises Over £17k for Brain Tumour Research in Honour of Her Late Husband

Colleagues at HC-One’s Support Office in Darlington presented a cheque for £17,846.25 to the Brain Tumour Research charity on Monday 18th March 2024.

Tracy Hardy, who works at the Support Office in Southgate House as a Careline Team Leader, lost her partner of over 15 years, David Watson, to a brain tumour on the 8th of July 2022. Tracy’s team subsequently decided to rally round and raise funds for the Brain Tumour Research charity in memory of her late husband.

The HC-One Careline team participated in several fundraising activities and events to raise money for the Brain Tumour Research charity.

Fundraising activities and events that took place from June to July 2023 included:

Wear a Hat Day which took place in the Darlington Central Support Office. The Careline team members baked cakes and scones as well as cooked hot dogs to sell. A raffle and games were held, and residents from HC-One’s Beaconsfield Court Care Home – in Barnard Castle, County Durham – came along to join in the fun and fundraising activities.
The Careline team, as well as Tracy’s friends and family took part in a sponsored climb of Roseberry Topping.
Tracy’s daughter also completed the muddy run in Newcastle and raised money for the cause.

The Brain Tumour Research charity aims to find a cure for all types of brain tumours and to increase UK investment in brain tumour research.

Tracy Hardy, Careline Team Leader at HC-One, commented:

“I’d like to say a massive thank you to my team for their support, efforts, and contributions towards raising funds for the Brain Tumour Research charity.

“I am extremely proud and humbled that we have raised over £17,000 for a cause, incredibly close to my heart which will go towards research and finding a cure for brain tumours.”

Ashley McWilliams, Community Development Manager at Brain Tumour Research, said:

“We’re really grateful to everyone at HC-One’s Support Office for their incredible fundraising, as it’s only with the support of people like them that we’re able to progress our research into brain tumours and improve the outcome for patients who are forced to fight this awful disease.”
