Cornwall Care Employee Trekking The China Wall For Alzheimer’s Society

Joanne Cauchi, Assistant Operations Director of Cornwall Care, has worked with people who are living with dementia for 23 years, but she wants to do more to help.

To raise further awareness and fundraise for people living with dementia, Joanne has signed up to take part in one of Alzheimer’s Society’s trekking challenges, where she will be spending six days walking 70km along the Great Wall of China.

“I wanted to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society to contribute to their ongoing research and importantly, to fund the vital support that they provide to individuals and their families,” says Joanne. “Signing up for the trek was not pre-planned! I am not fit, hate travelling on my own and have never been to China. So trekking for up to 10 hours a day is going to be an excellent challenge.”

Joanne is training herself for the trek, preparing herself to take on the Great Wall.

While the trek begins on the 12th of October, Joanne’s fundraising target is to raise £3,200 by this August. She would be grateful for any donations, big or small.

Every penny will make a difference to the people who live with dementia and will bring us that much closer to understanding how we can treat the condition.

If you would like to support Joanne in her China challenge and make a donation to Alzheimer’s Society on her behalf, please visit her JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/joanne-cauchi

Cornwall Care are proud to support Alzheimer’s Society and staff at the organisation will be rooting for Joanne when she takes up the challenge on the 12th of October this year. We wish her all the best of luck.
