Chirk Court Care Home Receives £5,000 from Cadbury Foundation Towards Creation of a Sensory Room
North Wales care home Chirk Court has received £5,000 funding from The Cadbury Foundation as part of the ‘Your Charity, Your Choice’ scheme.
Ian Evans, manufacturing team leader at the Mondelēz International factory’s nearby site in Chirk nominated the care home for the funding.
Aware of the excellent work done by the team Mr Evans nominated the care home and staff, who take exceptional care of the 66 elderly residents.
Chirk Court, a specialist dementia-friendly care home, was one of 72 charities across the UK and Ireland selected to receive funding.
Mr Evans said: “Chirk Court Care Home does so much fantastic work providing high-quality care to its residents, and I know this generous grant will have an incredibly positive impact.
“I’m delighted that my nomination was supported by my colleagues, and I know that the donation will help the charity continue to deliver its fantastic services supporting the residents in its care.”
Laura Shone, deputy manager at Chirk Court, said: “We are extremely grateful to The Cadbury Foundation for this significant donation, which will help us create a new sensory room for our residents and the wider community.
“The sensory room will make a real difference, helping residents maintain their independence and giving them the opportunity to socialise with others.”
The Cadbury Foundation, which was established in honour of company founders George and Richard Cadbury, supports projects that reflect community care and employee wellbeing.
Last year, The Cadbury Foundation celebrated its 90th anniversary, marking more than £1 million donated to community programmes since the scheme began.
Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International (Cadbury’s parent company), explained: “Our ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme was set up to support important causes and charities close to our employees’ hearts, and we’re incredibly proud that for fourteen years, the programme has done exactly that.”
