Care Home Staff’s Marathon Hike for Cancer Charity

Hill-Care-Peak-District-Mighty-HikeA MIGHTY mixed terrain 26-mile hike across the Peak District will challenge care home staff as they aim to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Six head office staff from the Hill Care Group, based in Chesterfield, will tackle the Peak District Mighty Hike.

Organised by Macmillan, the walk starts at Darley Moor and wanders across the Peak District to reach Bakewell Showground.

The staff taking on the challenge include Stacey Forster, Kelly Perryman, Kirsty Wright, Sarah Stimpson, Samantha Jackson and Meaghan Cook.

They’re aiming to raise £1,500 ahead of the event, on Saturday, 27th July 2019.

Stacey said: “I’ve learnt a lot more over the past year or so about what Macmillan do and the support they provide to people.

“Unfortunately, I’ve learnt this the hard way due to some nearest and dearest needing their support.

“I was shocked at just how much they do for people and I think it is just unbelievably amazing.

“I want to try and do my own little bit to support Macmillan so that they can continue to do such amazing things.

“We would be forever grateful if you could help us smash our target and support us through our hike to help give back to those who really do deserve it.”

Macmillan Cancer Support is the Hill Care Group’s chosen charity for 2019/20, with dozens of care homes across the north of England raising funds with events and activities throughout the year.

Last year, the group raised over £7,000 for the Stroke Association and, in 2017/18, over £10,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Wendy Waddicor, managing director of the Hill Care Group, said: “I’m so proud of everyone’s fundraising efforts for Macmillan Cancer Support so far this year and there is a lot more to come.

“Best of luck to Team Hill Care on the Peak District Mighty Hike. I’m sure they will do an amazing job and every penny of sponsorship raised will go towards supporting those with cancer and their loved ones. Every donation is greatly appreciated.”
