Aran Court Care Home Raises Vital Funds for Breast Cancer Awareness
Aran Court Care Home turned pink for a day of fundraising, creativity, and heartfelt moments last week to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
October is dedicated to increasing awareness about breast cancer, which affects 1 in 8 women in the UK.
Residents and staff united in support of the cause through a range of vibrant activities, including a successful raffle, which raised an incredible £175.
The 84-bed care home, located in Birmingham and part of the Avery Healthcare Group, was transformed with pink decorations throughout the home, the colour associated with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
While wearing pink boas, residents enjoyed a pottery painting session and a sing-along of “Lily the Pink.” The care home’s Chef also provided delicious, pink-themed cakes.
The event offered a safe space for everyone to share their experiences with the disease caused by abnormal cell growth, with a Carer from the home sharing a poignant story about recently losing a close friend to breast cancer, highlighting its impact on her friend’s young daughter.
“It was an emotional day, but witnessing everyone come together for such an important cause made it even more special. The funds we raised will contribute to vital research in the search for a cure.” said Sharon, Well-Being Co-ordinator at Aran Court Care Home.
Deborah Smith, 58 who is the Resident ambassador said “It was a wonderful day with lots of interactions between residents and their relatives. We had lots of cake and raised funds for a great cause”
Staff and residents collaborated to raise funds for this vital cause, and the event received positive feedback from all involved.
