£15 Million Towards Dementia Research To Be Announced In Autumn Statement

In tomorrow’s Autumn Statement, George Osborne will pledge at least £15 million towards a new fund for dementia research.

The fund will bring together investors from the public, private and charity sectors to provide investment for innovative research projects. The government has already committed to spending £66 million on dementia research by next year.

Jeremy Hughes, Chief Executive at Alzheimer’s Society said:

‘David Cameron is committed to making dramatic progress towards a cure for dementia by 2025 so it’s encouraging to see him turning these words into action through continued global and national leadership. This announcement is significant given that investment in this area is so crucial.  Alzheimer’s Society continues to fund vital research and work with the government to tackle dementia
