West Heath Care Home Shines At The IPC Champions Forum Awards

Staff at a residential, nursing and dementia care home in West Heath are celebrating after scooping two accolades at the latest IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) Champions Forum awards.

Austin Rose, part of Midlands care provider, Macc Care Group, was honoured with two prestigious awards at the recent event, including the ‘IPC Champion of Champions Highly Commended Award 2024’. Hosted by Birmingham Community Healthcare at The Saffron Centre, the awards recognise and showcase the work of healthcare professionals at the very top levels of IPC practice.

Commenting on the award wins, Home Manager Pauline Vernon, said:
“This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of infection, prevention and control. Our dedicated team members, Bal and Shaunna, have been exemplary in their roles, consistently supporting and promoting excellence in IPC. Their dedication and hard work have truly paid off, showcasing their commitment to the well-being and safety of our residents and staff.”

IPC Champions is a programme run in partnership between Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Birmingham City Council. The aim of the scheme is to create roles for care staff enthusiastic about safe infection prevention and control, who constantly strive to protect residents/service users, staff and visitors from infection. The key to the success of IPC Champions is that the role itself is recognised as an integral part of the care home.

Pauline added: “At Austin Rose, we’re committed to providing outstanding care and upholding the highest standards in all our practices. We are incredibly proud of our team’s achievements and will continue to strive for excellence in every aspect of our service.

“We wanted to also say a special thank you to Mandy Brailey and Jean Dipple for organising a wonderful award ceremony. Their efforts made for a memorable and inspiring occasion for all.”
