Watford Care Home Staff Runs London Marathon To Support Dementia UK

Caroline Page, an Administration Assistant at RMBI Care Co. Home Prince Michael of Kent Court, in Watford, has run her first London Marathon to raise funds for Dementia UK.

She finished in under seven hours which was a great achievement considering the hot weather. The residents at the Home tracked her progress during the day and were delighted to see her crossing the finish line. She chose to support Dementia UK as it is a charity close to the Home’s hearts.

She says: “The marathon was the most challenging thing that I have done! The hot weather made it harder than I had anticipated but I pushed through with the cheers from the crowds. It was a very emotional day hearing everyone’s stories and the reasons why they were running.”

“I chose to raise funds for Dementia UK as the issue is close to my heart working at the care home and it gave me the opportunity to do something positive to help the families and individuals on their dementia journey,” she adds.

Caroline entered the ballot last year and received her place in September, and has trained consistently. The residents have been really interested in her journey and getting updates on her progress.

Caroline’s target was to raise £1000 for Dementia UK. When she finally completed the London Marathon, she ended up raising over £3000, approximately 200% more than her initial set target.
