Wallsend Care Home Welcomed Former Magpie To Celebrate Refurbishment

17751Residents and members of staff at St Peter’s Court care home in Wallsend, which is part of Akari Care, welcomed local football royalty to officially launch an open day to celebrate the home’s recent refurbishment.

Lee Clark, ex Newcastle United Footballer and Manager, cut the ribbon to mark the start of the celebration, which included entertainment by local singer Claire Louise, who performed Connie Francis jazz, swing and all the war-time classics.

Many members of the local community attended and enjoyed a champagne toast to mark the occasion.

Lee gave up his time to show his appreciation for the great care that his grandma, receives at St Peter’s Court, which specialises in residential care for up to 40 elderly residents.

The home has recently benefited from a complete refurbishment throughout, including new carpets, curtains and furniture in bedrooms and communal areas and fresh new bathroom suites fitted, to make the areas more comfortable and appealing for residents.

The refurbishment is part of Akari Care’s £15 million investment programme in its homes throughout the UK.

The open day gave members of the public an opportunity to take a tour of the excellent new facilities could speak to members of staff and residents about the fantastic care available.

Lee Clark said: “St Peter’s Court is a fantastic care home with a great team of dedicated and caring staff. They’ve looked after my Grandma so well, that I was more than happy to launch and attend the open day to show my appreciation. The home is looking great following its full refurbishment and it’s always a pleasure to visit my Grandma at St Peter’s.”

Wendy Charlton, Manager at St Peter’s Court, said: “We’d all like to say a big thank you to Lee for taking the time out of his busy schedule to attend our open day – we really appreciate it and everyone had a great time.

“The home’s fresh-new look is just fantastic and all of the visitors to our home comment on how great it’s looking, so we were really proud to throw open our doors to the local community.”

Based on Church Bank in Wallsend, St Peter’s Court is a purpose built care home that provides residential and dementia care for elderly residents.
