Theatre Stars Prove A Hit At Care Home’s Family Fun Day

ThretreStars from the smash show ‘Me and My Girl’ proved a hit when they visited a Chichester care home.

Actor Matt Lucas and co-star Alex Young, from the Chichester Festival Theatre (CFT) production, sang a selection of songs at Colten Care’s Wellington Grange.

The duo were surprise guests at a family fun day which raised more than £300 for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Chichester.

Residents, relatives and members of the community enjoyed garden games, including giant quoits, while a face painter and magician were popular with children.

A 1930’s jazz band provided musical accompaniment as guest tucked into a classic cream tea.

Resident Joan Llewellyn, 97, said: “It was a marvellous afternoon for a wonderful cause and a lovely surprise to have Matt and Alex singing some songs from Me and My Girl.”

Martin Corrigan, Operations Manager, added: “Our residents and guests enjoyed a very happy and successful family fun day. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”

Matt and Alex’s visit was arranged under a partnership between CFT and family-owned Colten Care.

The aim of the partnership is to bring interactive theatre experiences directly into the home as well as offer residents, families and friends priority access to events and tickets at the theatre, which is less than a mile from Wellington Grange.

Last month a group of residents visited Chichester Festival Theatre to see Me and My Girl.
