“Sense Of Fulfilment” Says Deputy Manager Who Celebrates 15 Years At South London Home
A deputy manager at a South London home celebrated 15 years at her workplace and says she has a “sense of fulfilment” as a result of this.
Marlene Francis started working at MHA Ryelands in February 2009 and progressed very quickly into a senior carer before moving into her current role as deputy manager in 2021.
She started working at the home, which provides residential and residential dementia care for 50 residents after working as a home carer and fancied a change.
Now 15 years later she says she was presented with a certificate to mark the occasion by home manager Solomon-Paul Ekuase.
Speaking after the presentation Marlene added:
“ I was aware that its around 15 years since I started working at the home, but when Solomon presented the certificate to me, it was a great honour.
“I really enjoy my job, I have climbed the ladder in terms of roles and I am very satisfied.
“It’s a challenging industry but the job is very rewarding. I feel very proud to support residents and their families.
“Being in a position to make a difference to the lives of residents is what has kept me going.
“Even though I am now the deputy manager, I still work on the same floor as where the residents are so I am still involved with them.
“I don’t know if the years have flown by or not, but there is a sense of fulfilment and immense pride.
“For me the social care industry is a great one to work in, and I would like to retire at MHA.”
