Scarborough care home creates international paper chain link for staff and residents
A Scarborough based care home has created an international paper chain link to help residents and staff members remember loved ones.
MHA Priceholme, in Givendale Road, Scarborough started the family paper chain last year as a way of remembering family members at Christmas, due to no visitors being allowed to the home.
The home provides residential care in a purpose-built environment, designed for both ease of access and comfort, and is surrounded by beautiful gardens.
Ruth Dale, chaplain at the home said: “I was reminded by a resident if we were doing the paper chain this year and that’s when the idea came about again.
“Due to no visitors or any of the residents leaving the home last year, the paper chain link helped all those at the home remember loved ones, whether that be friends or family.
“We have added more than 60 new names from last year, and the most interesting part of the chain is that it has names of family members who live in places like New Zealand and Canada.
“Even staff members have joined in and the paper chain link will be put up in the lounge until January 6.
“The residents have really enjoyed making the new paper chain link, and I am confident this will become a tradition at the home.”
