Romford Care Home Raises Record £500 for Havering Dementia Action Alliance at Annual Charity Car Wash
Residents, team members, families and volunteers at Romford Care Home came together once again for the home’s much-loved annual Charity Car Wash, raising a record-breaking £500 for the Havering Dementia Action Alliance (HDAA).
Held each year to raise both funds and awareness for local charities across Havering and Romford, this year’s event was the most successful yet, with volunteers washing an incredible 60 cars throughout the day.
The popular fundraiser saw residents working alongside colleagues, relatives and friends of the home to welcome visitors, cheer on the volunteers and support the day’s activities. The event was made even more special by the support of Lesley Davey and Karen from the Havering Dementia Action Alliance, while the Mayor of Havering, Councillor Maggie Themistocli, also took time from her busy schedule to visit the home and encourage everyone involved.
The £500 raised will help the Havering Dementia Action Alliance continue its vital work supporting people living with dementia, their families and carers across the local community.
Following the event, Lesley Davey from Havering Dementia Action Alliance thanked the home, saying: “Karen and myself cannot thank you and your staff and volunteers/residents enough for supporting HDAA. You are our champions!”
Tracy Smith, Customer Relations Manager at Romford Care Home, said: “Our annual charity car wash has become one of the highlights of our calendar. It’s an event that truly brings everyone together – residents, families, colleagues, volunteers and the wider community – all for a cause that means so much to us. Every year the support grows, and to raise a record £500 while washing 60 cars is an incredible achievement. We are so grateful to everyone who came along, donated and helped make the day such a success.”
Madalina (Maddie) Ilie, General Manager at Romford Care Home, added: “Supporting our local community is at the heart of everything we do, and the Havering Dementia Action Alliance provides invaluable support to people living with dementia and their loved ones. Seeing our residents so involved alongside the team, and welcoming members of the community to the home, made the day incredibly special. We are immensely proud of everyone who contributed and delighted that together we have raised a fantastic amount to support such an important local charity.”
The annual Charity Car Wash has become a firm favourite in Romford Care Home’s calendar, not only raising valuable funds for local charities but also strengthening community connections and demonstrating the home’s ongoing commitment to supporting people living with dementia beyond its own doors.
