Residents at Local Care Home Pay their Respects on Armed Forces Day

Residents and staff at Glebefields Care Home in Drayton, Banbury joined people from all over the county to pay their respects to soldiers past and present at the Banbury Military Parade for Armed Forces Day which took place on Saturday 17 June 2022.

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

This year representatives from Glebefields marked the occasion by joining the event and meeting members of today’s armed forces, plus cadets and veteran in the town centre. The procession led by Banbury’s Sea Cadet Band started at the Market Place, with a march up Parson’s Street, along Horse Fair and down High Street.

Residents, along with staff, family and friends were able to enjoy the precession from a front row kerbside location. As the sun shone on the band instruments and the proudly placed medals of the various troops we remembered those who lost their lives in the line of fire.

Nisha Shaji, General Manager at Glebefields, said: “We have a number of residents and staff with personal ties to the military, it was wonderful to see so many people gathered together to honour the Armed Forces. We thank them all for their dedication to the country.”
