Regent Wins Care Team of the Year Award
The team at a not-for-profit Sanctuary Care home in Worcester have scooped victory in the Care Team of the Year Award in the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards.
Regent Residential Care Home Manager, Paul Eccles, and his amazing team were nominated for their exceptional commitment to creating a vibrant, compassionate environment where residents don’t just live – they thrive.
Following the victory Paul said: “I’m immensely proud of my team, – every single member of staff in every role played a part in making this happen. A life-enriching care setting is nothing without the people behind it. This team make me proud to be part of Regent Residential Care Home every single day, providing truly great care for our wonderful residents.”
Many of the staff at Regent, which is in School Road, St John’s, have worked at the home for over a decade. They consistently go the extra mile to support the residents to have a very active role in how their home is run.
Residents help shape their experiences, from beach trips and dog shows to the Rocking Regent summer festival. The home is deeply connected to the community, welcoming nursery children, volunteers, and work experience students who often go on to enjoy permanent careers in care.
Mental wellbeing is a priority, with six trained mental health first aiders and a support group the home runs, to help family carers in the local community. A WhatsApp group and private Facebook page help families stay connected to loved ones through shared photos and updates.
When not on shift, staff regularly visit residents, simply because they love being there.
The team organise so many enriching experiences for the residents, like animal therapy visits including dogs, giant rabbits, and alpacas. They honour personal traditions, like taking one resident to the pub for a pint, just as he did before moving into the home.
