Reading Care Home Receives Praise From Local Council

River View Care Centre in Reading, Berkshire, announces the positive feedback of a recent report from Reading Borough Council.

A representative from the council, Commissioner (Quality) for the Directorate of Adult Care and Health Services, Lewis Willing, recently visited and observed the home in relation to the council’s Dignity in Care Charter.

Staff were found to promote social interaction between residents and encourage their involvement in activities. Other highlights included a user-friendly service user guide in the home, which helps families to understand what the service will typically deliver and provide a key contact. Appropriate policies were noted to be in place to ensure an accurate log of all feedback was kept up-to-date, with staff taking on board comments and striving to improve care.

Janet Varndell, Home Manager, commented, “We really do value the feedback we have received in this report from Reading Borough Council. All our staff are extremely dedicated to encouraging resident involvement in socialising and activities and ensuring families feel supported as much as possible and it is great to have our hard work as a team recognised”.

The Dignity in Care Charter is run by Reading Borough Council and focuses on maintaining standards in care across the Borough. To be accredited with the charter, homes must sign-up to it and fulfil its criteria. All sign-ups must provide direct care to adults, be based in Reading and have a contract with Reading Borough Council. With a commitment to providing care that meets the principles of the charter and a willingness to be monitored against these standards, River View Care Centre continues to hold a contract and work in partnership with the council.
