Porthcawl Care Home Resident Celebrates her 100th Birthday with Her 101-Year-Old Sister
A resident at RMBI Care Co. Home Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court, in Porthcawl, has celebrated her 100th birthday. Gwynneth Davies enjoyed a celebration with her sister, resident Roma Davies, who turned 101 in June, as well as with other fellow residents and staff at the Home.
Gwynneth Davies (née Wilson) was born on 9th September 1922 in Hakin, Mildford Haven. Besides Roma, Gwynneth had another sister, Dilys, who sadly passed away when she was 6 months old.
A life of commitment, Gwynneth was an active and committed member of St Mary’s Church, in Hakin. For many years, she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Mothers’ Union, an international charity that supports families, and worked in the Post Office until she married her husband, Jack, in 1957.
When Jack sadly passed away, Gwynneth decided to move to RMBI Care Co. Home Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court to stay close to her sister, Roma.
Mandy Kilpatrick, one of the Home’s Activities Coordinators, say:
“Gwynneth is a lovely, gentle lady who is always smiling. She enjoys all our activities!”
Celebrating her 100th birthday, Gwynneth knows how she has managed to become a centenarian. She says: “My secret to longevity is my Christian life, tea and ginger biscuits, gardening and, of course, my friends.”
