Penarth Home Marks World Food Day By Showcasing Diversity In Food
A session was held in the main lounge at the home for World Food Day
A Penarth home marked World Food Day by showcasing a wide range of meals from different parts of the world.
MHA Ty Gwyn held a session to educate their residents on the different types of cuisines from various parts of the world.
The session was part of a prayer service held by the chaplain, Karen Jennings, where residents thanked staff for the food that was prepared.
The kitchen staff prepared a menu with Welsh lamb, a traditional English breakfast, Spanish omelettes and traditional polish apple and chocolate cakes.
The home provides nursing care for 45 residents.
Mary-Anne Rowle, activity coordinator said:
“We marked World Food Day as a time to be thankful of the wonderful food we have here at the home.
“I looked up what days were relevant and felt World Food day was a good one to mark.
“Our kitchen staff includes people from Poland, who prepared the cakes as well as the other food items.
“The aim of the session was to showcase the diverse range of food items and dishes that are available in the world.
“The residents were engaged, they came in and out of the main lounge where we were set up and joined in the prayer service.
“We had a great time learning about the different foods and we all found it very educational.”
