“Our Dementia Choir with Vicky McClure” raises £400 for the local church at Bedfordshire Care Home’s Summer Fete!

Following months of preparation, Bedfordshire care home, Milton Ernest Hall’s much anticipated “Summer Fete & BBQ” was finally here! Despite the Summer Fete clouds, the sound of excitement was intoxicating as vintage carnival games were laid out, the BBQ fired up and the entertainers and stallholders began to arrive.

First to perform and open the afternoon was the hugely talented local Ukulele band, who were swift to get everyone’s feet tapping and hands clapping ready for the act everyone had been waiting for… the truly magnificent ‘Our Dementia Choir with Vicky McClure’!!

Members of the choir took their places, residents, families and friends took their seats as the sky cleared and the sun shone down on a truly magical performance! Songs from across the ages had residents and families and friends swaying in their seats and enjoying every heartwarming moment!

Jackie, a resident at Milton Ernest Hall spent the afternoon with 3 generations of her family singing and laughing and loving every moment! When asked about what she enjoyed the most, Jackie commented; “The Dementia Choir put on a really good show. My family really enjoyed the day and we even got some honey from the honey stall! It was really gorgeous. Excellent.“

Sarah, Jackie’s daughter, who spent the afternoon singing and swaying to the music with her Mum and her own Daughter, added; “What a truly wonderful afternoon of family fun! Brilliant and uplifting with activities for everyone. A massive thank you to all the staff and residents for sharing your home and beautiful grounds. The level of care, energy, and commitment you all demonstrate daily was present in abundance. Fun activities, positivity, and kindness- what’s not love? Three generations from mum’s family all in agreement – thank you”

With the care home ever-present at the heart of their local community and a venue for many of their local Milton Ernest clubs and group meetings, they are proud to have raised almost £400 for their local Church’s new bathroom fundraiser!

Vicky Hornibrook, Deputy Manager commented “What a fabulous afternoon! This is what we love the most about our beautiful care home – it’s such a special place to bring our local community together and the memories our residents and their families make are just beautiful!”

Rumour has it, they’ve already started planning for next year already!!
