Blackpool Home Unveils New Caravan As Open Space For Residents And Loved Ones

The caravan was officially opened by the Mayor Councillor Gillian Campbell (R) and Mayoress Syke Campbell (second from left) pictured with resident Raymond Larkin(L) and home manager Lisa Robins.

A Blackpool home unveiled a new caravan as a hub for residents to spend quality time with their loved ones.

MHA Pennystone Court was donated a caravan more than three years ago and wanted to use the road vehicle as additional space for residents to spend time with family members.

After some much-needed TLC and an array of fundraising activities the caravan was finally ready to be used.

To mark the occasion the home organised a seaside themed opening ceremony with the Mayor Councillor Gillian Campbell and her daughter and Mayoress Syke Campbell being invited to officially open the caravan.

There were plenty of homemade sweet treats to celebrate the opening and the day also included some live entertainment.

More than 50 people witnessed the unveiling with residents, family and staff members coming along.

Jaide Foster-Howarth, activity coordinator said:
“It’s been a journey of more than three years from a rundown space to a hub for residents and their loved ones to enjoy.

“My colleagues at MHA Pennystone Court have all played a huge role and helped to transform it into an amazing space

“The support from the community has been amazing, we have had some generous donations and arranged charity nights which have resulted in us completing the caravan.

“When the caravan was officially opened, the residents were really impressed with what we had done.

“The caravan is an open space for everyone at the home to use, we are all very happy with the finished result and can’t wait for it to be used.”
