Northamptonshire Care Home Raises £2,000 For Cancer Appeal

A care home has raised £2,000 for an appeal to bring a local man back to the UK – after he developed cancer while living in Thailand.

Staff at Victoria House care home in Rushden, many of whom knew him personally, held a virtual raffle and tombola in aid of Daniel Brown, who is being treated for cancer in Thailand.

The event raised more than £2,000, which has been gifted to friends of Daniel who have set up a Just Giving page. They are closing in on their target fundraising total of £17,500, which would be enough money for Daniel to have the life-saving treatment and return safely to the UK.

Commenting on the fundraiser Michelle Collis, administrator at Victoria House care home, which is run by Shaw healthcare, said:

“I cannot thank the public enough for their support. To raise £2,000 from a raffle is nothing short of amazing. We hope that our virtual event has helped Daniel’s family and friends with their fundraising totals, and that we can see Daniel in person once he has returned and recovered from his horrendous illness.”
