Newport Pagnell Home Makes Use Of Unused Space To Open Bar For Residents

A Newport Pagnell home has utilised some unused space in the home and converted it into a bar for residents.

MHA Westbury Grange opened their ‘Westbury Bar’ just in time for the football World Cup for residents to watch the games and stay hydrated.

The bar is located on the second floor of the home and is complete with a selection of drinks, a dartboard and snacks.

In preparation for the opening, a personalised plaque was ordered and is displayed proudly at the front of the bar.

MHA Westbury Grange provides residential dementia and general nursing care for 45 residents.

Jo Cassidy, administration manager said: “ The bar area was where we had an old bookshelf which wasn’t in use, so we decided to convert it into a bar.

“It’s been a joint effort by all staff and in total it took us around 2-3 weeks to get the bar up and running.

“The idea came from our deputy home manager and once we discussed it with the rest of the home, we decided to give it a go.

“Especially with the football World Cup going on, our residents have a chill-out zone where they can enjoy the game along with some refreshments.

“We serve a selection of drinks, along with some snacks and it’s a really nice atmosphere for everyone.

“We have a dartboard and record player in there as well just to add some extra items, and everyone loves what we have done with the space.”
