The National Care Forum (NCF) refreshes its founding purpose to promote quality care for people receiving care and support services in an updated statement of purpose and values. The paper covers the Care Act vision of transformed services, challenges faced by the care sector, commissioning, continuous improvement, innovation, valuing the workforce and partnerships. It also sets out what NCF wants to see for the future of the care sector.
Speaking at the NCF AGM to launch the new report, Des Kelly OBE , NCF Executive Director, said:
“We are in challenging times for the social care sector. Rising demand and years of underfunding are increasing the pressure points for providers and commissioners alike. At the same time there is an urgent need for greater public confidence in care and support services as well as a positive image of social care in the media.”
Des Kelly continued:
“The commitments we set out in ‘Committed to Quality’ demonstrate that our members are passionate about leading the transformation of services and that the NCF will continue to support care providers in building a positive vision for future provision. We make clear in this paper the essential elements necessary to make reform and transformation a reality which will ensure continuously improving quality care services.”
The paper follows the latest report on financial sustainability ‘Quality, Collaboration, Resilience’ also published to coincide with the NCF AGM on 8 October 2015.
