Midlands Care Group Celebrates 12 Shortlistings Across Three Major Care Awards

A Midlands care provider is celebrating after securing 12 shortlistings across three of the care sector’s leading awards.

Macc Care, which operates 19 homes across the region, has received six nominations at the Great British Care Awards, with a further four colleagues shortlisted at the Social Care Leadership Awards.

This success has continued at the LaingBuisson Awards, where both the group and Senior Customer Relationship Manager Soni Atwal are in the running for national honours against the very best operators in the sector.

Founded by doctors almost two decades ago, Macc Care provides everything from residential and respite care through to nursing and specialist dementia support, with the nominations reflecting work taking place both within individual homes and across the wider group.
At the Great British Care Awards, Macc Care is shortlisted for The Care Employer Award and The Three Rs’ Award, recognising its approach to supporting and developing colleagues.

Recognition also extends to colleagues across the group. Wyrley Rose’s Daniela Milia is in the running for The Frontline Leaders Award following her work supporting residents to regain independence, while Group Executive Chef Anas Al Saadi has been recognised in The Care Home Cook/Chef Award for his personalised approach to resident dining.

Group Activities Lead, Julie Hanvey, is shortlisted for The Care Home Activity Organiser Award, reflecting her work to shape meaningful activities around residents’ individual interests. And Regional Head of Housekeeping Sharon Angel is also nominated for The Workforce Development Award following her work to strengthen training across the group.

Further recognition has come at the Social Care Leadership Awards for four of Macc Care’s clinical leaders. Marie Accison, Care Home Manager at Sutton Rose, has been recognised for building a stable and supportive team, while Wulfrun Rose’s manager Louise Kearns has been commended for her inclusive approach to leadership and colleague development.

Meanwhile in Leicestershire at Watermead Rose, Ramona Babet and Betty Varghese have also received shortlistings for the Social Care Leadership Awards, reflecting their clinical expertise and the support they provide to residents with more complex care needs.

At the LaingBuisson Awards, Macc Care is among the finalists for Care Home Group of the Year, recognising its approach to delivering high-quality, clinically led care across its homes. Senior Customer Relationship Manager Soni Atwal is meanwhile shortlisted for the Rising Star Award after developing Macc Care’s centralised communications function. Since joining the group in August 2024, she has helped families gain a greater insight into everyday life within its homes through authentic digital content.
