Lincolnshire Care Home Residents And Families Celebrate Sports Day

A care home in North Lincolnshire recently hosted its annual sports day welcoming residents, their families, friends, and wider members of the local community to a day of fun and celebration.

With Covid restrictions now completely lifted, The Birches, a leading care provider in Lincolnshire to those living with a learning disability and associated support needs, organised a wide range of sports games where everyone could get involved. Whether young or old, sporty or not, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Live music and a disco provided by a local entertainment company added to the day’s activities. A BBQ was also laid on and the care home enlisted the help of a local ice cream van to provide refreshments throughout the afternoon.

Anita Gregory, the manager of The Birches, which is owned and managed by HICA Group, said:
“We’re thrilled to bring together our residents and the community for a day of fun, laughter and connection.

“Our annual sports day has always been a key highlight in our social calendar with this year being extra special as it’s the first one we’ve had since the pandemic.

“It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves and the smiles on residents’ faces were priceless. Thank you to everyone who made it a day to remember.”

The Birches provides person-centred, bespoke care for 31 people who each live in their own self-contained apartment or bungalow. The design of the bungalows and flats enable HICA’s support team to help people feel at home and relaxed in their care environment.

A resident at The Birches said: “It was a brilliant day. I loved playing games with my friends and family. The music and food were great and I can’t wait for next year.”
