Glastonbury Care Home Achieves Two-Star Gold Accreditation for Dementia Care

Brunelcare’s Glastonbury Care Home is celebrating a major milestone after officially achieving Two Star Gold Accreditation with the National Dementia Care Accreditation Scheme (NaDCAS). The home achieved an impressive overall score of 85% and recognising the team’s continued commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred dementia care.

The accreditation highlights a number of significant strengths and improvements across Glastonbury Care Home, including the home’s approach to creating an environment that supports the wellbeing, independence and dignity of people living with dementia.

The home achieved an outstanding 96% for its Enabling Environment, demonstrating the team’s success in creating a welcoming, accessible and dementia-friendly environment.

Glastonbury also scored 90% for Information About the Person, reflecting its strong focus on understanding residents as individuals, including their preferences, interests, life histories and personal information. The assessment highlighted the introduction of a one-page profiles about each of the residents, alongside additional time for staff to absorb and use this information in their approach to care.

The quality of interactions between residents and team members was also recognised, with one assessment standard receiving an Exceptional rating. The assessment highlighted that team members engage with or acknowledge residents at every opportunity, with numerous examples of positive interactions and compassionate care recorded.

Glastonbury’s focus on creating an environment that supports sensory wellbeing was another standout achievement, with the home scoring 95% for ‘The Senses for Wellbeing’. This recognised the strong provision around lighting, sensory comfort, calm surroundings and the physical environment to support people living with dementia.
