Familiar Face At The Helm Of Pontefract Home Aims To Make It “Best In The Area”
There is a familiar face in charge of a Pontefract home who hopes to turn the home into the “best in the area.”
Mark Quarmby has recently been appointed home manager at MHA Warde Aldam, however he is very familiar with the organisation having worked as a turnaround home manager during the pandemic in 2021.
Mark worked across two different homes, MHA Heather Grange in Burnley and MHA Laurel Court in Didsbury.
Prior to working for MHA, Mark, who has been a qualified mental health nurse for over 25 years, worked in health and social care and the hospital services as well as being Head of Dementia for another care provider and has 17 years of management experience.
Due to personal reasons Mark had to leave his role with MHA and says he “would never have left” if things were different.
Having moved into South Yorkshire Mark spotted the opportunity to work for MHA again and was successful in his application.
Speaking on his role and his ambition for the home he said:
“Joining MHA was a very easy decision for me.
“Naturally things have changed but the ethos and values of MHA are the same and that’s what led me to join again.
“It’s a nice challenge for me, here at MHA Warde Aldam, we provide dementia nursing and nursing care for 60 residents, so it is a big home, but I felt ready for it.
“I do have ambitions, and I want MHA Warde Aldam to be the best in the area, with a strong focus on dementia care, helping residents and their family members through those difficult times and providing the best care possible.
“For me it’s important to keep those community connections through a range of activities and events and also focus on intergenerational relations.
“The atmosphere in the home is amazing, it’s like one big happy family and there is a good community around us.
“The support network both in the home and wider is readily available and you do feel very supported.
“I am very happy to be working for MHA again and look forward to creating wonderful memories here at MHA Warde Aldam.”
